Ben Roethlisberger trolled by NFL fans after cameras spot QB at Pittsburgh Steelers game

NFL fans have hilariously trolled Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s appearance after he was spotted on television watching on as his team took on the Cleveland Browns on Thursday night.

The 37-year-old two-time Super Bowl winner is out for the season with an elbow injury meaning back-up man Mason Rudolph is having to deputise.

Roethlisberger is still considered to be one of the top operators in the NFL in his position and the Steelers have missed him this season.

That said, they went into the AFC North divisional game against the Browns having won their last four games.

Despite the injury, Roethlisberger has been pictured watching his beloved Steelers at every home game this season.

And not long after the kick-off on Thursday night television cameras once again focussed in on Big Ben on the sidelines.

The 2004 first round pick was spotted wearing a big coat and Steelers hat in what was a very cold night in Ohio.

And this led fans to troll the star on social media for his appearance, with some claiming he looked homeless.

“Ben Roethlisberger looks like he spent the past four days stumbling around lost in the Canadian wilderness before somehow making his way to Cleveland for tonight’s game,” wrote one fan on social media.

“Roethlisberger looks like that older cousin you only see at thanksgiving,” wrote another.

While another wrote: “Ben Roethlisberger looks like a homeless person.”

“Ben looks like someone who’s very much out for the season,” said another, referring to his injury.

Roethlisberger has won 11-of-14 games he’s played in Cleveland over the course of his NFL career and said he was disappointed not to be able to take to the field on Thursday.

“AFC North football is always fun,” Roethlisberger said earlier in the week. “Cleveland. A short week. I’m jealous of the guys going over there.”

Roethlisberger said he has times when he’s “still feeling like I’m going to come back” during the 2019 season and that it “hurts that I’m not.”

He’s still focused on returning to action in 2020 and expects to be ready to go at some point in the offseason program.

In the meantime, the Steelers will have to keep faith in Rudolph, whose record as starter since stepping in for Big Ben now sits at 4-3.
