All About Bryce Leatherwood's Song "The Finger" and His Upcoming New Music

Bryce Leatherwood won the hearts of country music fans everywhere when he literally won The Voice Season 22 last year. Coached by Blake Shelton, Leatherwood’s deep, baritone voice helped him soar through the Blind Auditions, Battles, Knockouts, and, eventually, the entire competition. Though only 23 years old, Leatherwood sounds like he’s been playing in venues for decades — with a stage presence and performance style that mirrors the country greats. If you’re a fan of Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, then you definitely need to put Bryce Leatherwood on your radar.

Leatherwood has been teasing new music all year — and he dropped his first official release, “The Finger,” in October.

About Bryce Leatherwood’s song “The Finger”

The mid-tempo jam is a cheeky send-off to an ex-girlfriend who Leatherwood is realizing has moved on for good. In the fun, explosive chorus, Leatherwood croons, “Yeah, he got her hand to hold on the long ride; I got a cloud of dust and the taillights. He’s got his best days comin’, mine ain’t comin’ back.”

Leatherwood will perform “The Finger” on The Voice Season 24 Finale Night 1 on Monday, December 18, kicking off at 8/7c on NBC and streaming next day on Peacock.

“The Finger” by Bryce Leatherwood lyrics

Word gets around and ’round here quick

I heard it in the Quik Stop line

Well, Billy told me she was tyin’ the knot

While he was ringin’ up my Busch Lite

I bought this case to last a couple days

But I might drink ‘em all tonight

‘Cause my brand-new ex moved on to the next

The Chicks have no regrets being canceled for Bush remark: ‘Set us free’

Guess I just got left behind

Yeah, he got her hand to hold on the long ride

I got a cloud of dust and the taillights

He’s got his best days comin’, mine ain’t comin’ back

Yeah, he got the gold mine, I got the shaft

He got a “Yes” with a big ol’ “I do”

I got them hand grenades and horseshoes

He got the honey and I got the stinger

She got the ring

And I got the finger

Hey!

I bet her uncle walks her down the aisle

I bet her brother does some bridesmaids flirtin’

But if they send me a save the date

I ain’t gonna be the only one hurtin’

Yeah, he got her hand to hold on the long ride

I got a cloud of dust and the taillights

He’s got his best days comin’, mine ain’t comin’ back

Yeah, he got the gold mine, I got the shaft

He got a “Yes” with a big ol’ “I do”

I got them hand grenades and horseshoes

He got the honey and I got the stinger

She got the ring

And I got the finger

Yeah!

Yeah, I got the finger

He got a “Yes” with a big ol’ “I do”

I got them hand grenades and horseshoes

Will Bryce Leatherwood release more music?

An exact release date for more music is TBD, but Leatherwood does have a forthcoming project for Universal Music Group Nashville/Republic Records coming. So stay tuned!

Leatherwood has previewed some other songs on social media, though it’s unclear if they’ll be included on his project. That said, they certainly hint at the sound Leatherwood is going for. A song he posted called “Made Me, Me” has full Blake Shelton vibes. Another track titled “Last Thing on My Mind” is heartbreaking. And a third tune, “The One My Daddy Found,” is a touching tribute to his mother.
