There’s a lot more to footballing legend David Beckham than his soccer skills. While he champions the titles of father, husband, entrepreneur and style icon (to name a few), we’re more so focused on his beauty prowess.

Yes, call us crazy, but we have a hunch that it’s not just Victoria who holds the beauty candle in the Beckham household.

This just so happens to be proved in the Netflix’s latest docu-series Beckham, which depicts the 48-year-old’s keen care for candles. From cleaning excess residue to trimming the candle wicks, David is the embodiment of the candle connoisseur we all wish we could be.

This care for candles extends further into the beauty realm, as demonstrated through his presently-operating fragrance line and, of course, his stunning skin. Let’s just say that, over the years, he’s proved that he’s more than just a 3-in-1 shampoo, cleanser, and body wash kinda guy. He reflected on this in an interview with Into the Gloss: “I’d always been aware of how I wanted my hair to look, stuff like that, but I was also in a career where I was always outside…all these different places with different weather, I had to take care of my skin…” The Beckham documentary, which gives audience’s a closer understanding of the Beckham family dynamic also gives audiences a closer look at David’s flawless skin (with all the close-ups and what have you, how could you ignore it).Because we’re just those kinds of beauty nerds, without further ado, we’re diving into David Beckham’s skin care routine…

David Beckham’s skin care routine

At the heart of David’s skin care routine is a commitment to keeping his skin clean and fresh. Cleansing is the first step in his regimen, clearing away impurities and allowing his skin to breathe.

Beckham has personally cited the House 99 Purefectly Clean Face Wash (unavailable in Australia) and Biotherm Homme Aquapower Cleanser for Men ($52.36 at Amazon) in line with previous partnerships.

It seems as if Victoria Beckham’s own beauty prowess has rubbed off on her husband. The couple share a facialist (they’ve been known to visit Nilam Holmes and Sarah Chapman) and skin care products.

In an interview with Bustle, Victoria said that her and David are both avid users of the VB x Augustinus Bader serum and moisturiser. She says it has made their “pores smaller” as a result.

“I’ve noticed such a difference in my skin from using these two products, as has my husband.”

“We share skin care, and David uses [these] every day. We have genuinely noticed [that] the sizes of our pores are smaller [and] the fine lines around our eyes are lighter,” Victoria said of the Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum ($330 at VB Beauty) and Priming Moisturiser ($230 at VB Beauty).

Victoria also said that, while David doesn’t wear makeup, he enjoys using the golden-toned version of the moisturiser “because it feels nice on the skin, it looks great [and] it doesn’t feel like he’s wearing anything more than moisturiser”.

In his interview with Into the Gloss, David also cited the (now-discontinued) Tom Ford Bronzing Gel as a favourite due to its similar effect.

Keeping things short, sweet and simple, David’s skin care routine is a reflection of his on-the-go busy lifestyle.
