Legendary QB drops major career hint after quitting analyst role
Video drew brees teturn

Could Drew Brees be plotting a Tom Brady-style return to the NFL?

Hours after The Post’s Andrew Marchand reported that Brees was done at NBC after just one season as a studio and game analyst, the former Saints quarterback, 42, responded to the story on Twitter, appearing to hint that he could possibly come out of retirement.

“Despite speculation from media about my future this fall, I’m currently undecided,” Brees tweeted Sunday.”

“I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the above. I’ll let you know.”

Brees announced his retirement last March after the 2020-21 season, which included a message to fans that he would transition into the broadcast world as an analyst for NBC Sports.

He retired as the NFL’s all-time leader in career passing yards (80,358).

The father of four — whose children helped announce his retirement in a home video — was part of “Football Night in America” as a game analyst, alongside Mike Tirico.

He made his broadcast debut last September ahead of Tampa Bay’s season-opening win against the Cowboys, when his apparent “new hair” stole the spotlight.

Brees’ final game was a sombre 30-20 loss to Brady and the Buccaneers in the divisional round of the playoffs in January 2021.

It marked the first time Brees ever threw three interceptions in a playoff game.

The Super Bowl champion served as quarterback for the Saints for 15 years and helped change the culture in New Orleans — having led the team to its only Super Bowl in franchise history in 2010, with Brees being named the game’s MVP.

For the 2022 season, the Saints appeared to have locked up the quarterback position by signing Jameis Winston to a two-year, $28 million extension.

The team also added veteran journeyman Andy Dalton on a one-year deal in March.

Although it remains to be seen what’s next for Brees, the quarterback said back in 2014 that he could play at “a high level” until the age of 45.
