The Dallas Cowboys laid a goose egg against the Indianapolis Colts (their first since 2003) but hope was not lost. With their upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Boys have an opportunity to solidify a playoff spot, avoiding a win-and-in situation in Week 17.

To do so, running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott’s legs will have to be more involved in the game plan and the defense will have to get back on track against a Buccaneers team which can get plenty of yards. Elliott’s career high in rushing yards is 159, set in December of 2016 against… the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

What could he do this week?

As is the custom, the matchup was played out via simulation on Madden 19.

On the Cowboys first drive of the game, they sought to erase the offensive handcuffs they were placed in during their game against the Colts. Prescott and Elliott took the team right down the field and Amari Cooper capped the drive off on a short slant, as the Boys took the lead 7-0.

After the Cooper’s touchdown, the Cowboys added a Brett Maher field goal, extending their lead to 10. The Buccaneers would respond with a field of their own, making the score 10-3. With a few moments left in the second quarter, Prescott took the offense down the field and showed excellent touch on this nine-yard touchdown to rookie Michael Gallup, making the lead 17-3 heading in the halftime.

Looking for another touchdown to put the finishing touches on the game, Prescott was unable to connect with Blake Jarwin in the endzone, forcing the Cowboys to settle for a field goal, extending their lead to 20-3.

After the Cowboys’ field goal, the Buccaneers responded with a DeSean Jackson TD, narrowing the score 20-10. The Cowboys offense came out and although Elliott had run wild all day, he hadn’t yet scored. That all changed as the fourth quarter winded down, Elliott dove in from five yards out, extending the Cowboys’ lead to 27-10.
