Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee Blanchard’s pink house is likely one of the most symbolic things about their story-but what’s going on with the house now that no one’s living in it?

Turns out, Hulu’s hit show The Act has driven more attention to the house itself (it’s actually a tourist attraction now), and Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee’s neighbors aren’t thrilled.

In case you’re unfamiliar, The Act tells the dramatized version of the true story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who’s currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. (Dee Dee pretended Gypsy was ill for years-a result of her Munchausen syndrome by proxy-which led to Gypsy planning and then having her boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, execute her mother’s murder.)

But back to that infamous house: IRL, Gypsy and Dee Dee lived in a little pink house in Springfield, Missouri, built for them by Habitat For Humanity after they lost their Louisiana home to Hurricane Katrina. It was equipped with a wheelchair ramp and jacuzzi to soothe Gypsy’s muscles. Now, that house is being visited by curious fans of The Act and the Blanchard’s fascinating story.

According to KSPR33, a news station in Springfield, cars have been passing through more often than normal, and many are stopping outside of the house, which remains empty. Some people have even gotten out to walk on the property and look in the windows and take photos, neighbors say. The pink house is the site of Dee Dee’s murder.

“I think it’s kind of ridiculous,” neighbor Thomas Pengilly told KSPR33. “It’s just glorifying something that doesn’t need to be glorified. I do find it frustrating that there are vehicles coming through here and they don’t belong here. There are little ones around and some of them of going fast and stuff.”

The home seen in The Act isn’t actually the Springfield house. The show had a copy built in Effington, Georgia where the series was shot. But that hasn’t stopped fans from locating the real house to check it out.

The Act’s finale aired last night on Hulu, so maybe (hopefully, for the sake of Springfield residents) traffic to Gypsy Rose and Dee Dee’s house will die down-if not, well, at Gypsy and Dee Dee’s neighbors can add to their interesting story.
