Tom Brady threw 212 interceptions during his NFL career.
Two of those picks made him feel like s*** – especially after he was asked to sign the balls.
The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend tossed two INTs on the road against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 of the 2022 season.
Making it even worse, Brady grew up in nearby San Mateo.
It then became even tougher for the greatest quarterback of all time when Brady was asked by 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw to autograph one of the balls.
“It was s*** for me, to be honest. It was complete s****,” Brady said on the “Let’s Go!” podcast with former announcer Jim Gray. “But I try to be a gentleman. No, actually, I mean, look, it was a great play he made.”
49ers linebacker Fred Warner, who also collected a Brady pick, turned into a fan on the field after the game.
“Hey, Tom, you want to sign this ball?” Warner said. “It’s an honor for us just to play against you.”
Tampa Bay were blown out 35-7 by San Francisco and it wasn’t a good game for Brady.
With the 49ers jumping out to a 28-0 halftime lead, Brady was forced to throw and throw, often without success.
He finished 34-of-55 for 253 yards, one touchdown, two picks and a 63.7 rating.
Greenlaw said he’d been watching Brady since he was 2 and the autograph meant a lot.
“He’s a good guy,” Greenlaw said. “That’s big-time. I appreciate him. He’s the greatest. He’s the GOAT, so I appreciate that.”
San Francisco rookie Brock Purdy was more efficient than Brady, only misfiring five times and posting a strong 134 rating.
Tampa Bay fell to 6-7 after the game and ultimately finished 8-9 before losing in an NFC Wild Card game to the Dallas Cowboys.
Brady retired after the 2022 season.
He laughed while discussing the pain of signing his interception balls.
But Brady also acknowledged that sometimes his competitiveness got the best of him, which is what made signing them so difficult.
“I’m happy he’s got the ball,” Brady said. “I wish I didn’t throw it, but I’m trying to be a good sport. Because a lot of times I’m not a good sport.
“I can be a pretty bad sport. In the moment when they get me in the right frame of mind, I’m actually a good sport.”
Brady won seven Super Bowls and was selected to 15 Pro Bowls.
He also threw 649 touchdowns during his 23-year career, which will surely end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame when he is eligible.
