Keith Morrison, who is Matthew Perry‘s stepfather, is speaking out nearly a month after the Friends actor died at age 54.

The Dateline correspondent took to X (formerly Twitter) Monday to encourage people to donate to the Matthew Perry Foundation on Giving Tuesday, a day for celebrating and partaking in charitable generosity and philanthropic efforts.

“This is not the sort of thing I commonly do, this pitch. But this year is different. And tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Do what you can; he would have been grateful,” Morrison wrote.

The foundation was established following Perry’s death to continue his commitment to helping others struggling with addiction. The actor has been publicly open about his decades-long struggles with addictions to alcohol and opioids, including sharing details of his battle in his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, which was released last year.

Perry died on Oct. 28 after the Los Angeles Police Department found him unresponsive in the hot tub at his L.A. home. His cause of death is still under investigation as the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office awaits toxicology results.

The actor’s Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston also took to her Instagram Story Tuesday to encourage fans to support the Matthew Perry Foundation.

“For #GivingTuesday please join me and Matty’s family in supporting his foundation – which is working to help those suffering with addiction,” she wrote. “He would have been grateful for the love.”

Earlier this month, Aniston, along with her other Friends castmembers, shared a touching tribute for Perry.

“Oh boy this one has cut deep… Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before,” she said in part of her late co-star and longtime friend. “We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to really SIT in this grief allows you to feel the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone that deep. And we loved him deeply.”

Aniston added, “Matty, I love you so much and I know you are now completely at peace and out of any pain. I talk to you every day… sometimes I can almost hear you saying “could you BE any crazier?” Rest little brother. You always made my day.”
