NFL Week 11 Game Recap: Los Angeles Rams 17, Seattle Seahawks 16

The Seattle Seahawks failed to close out a potential Week 11 win over the Los Angeles Rams, with a missed field goal at the end sealing Seattle’s fourth loss of the year and second to the Rams. Los Angeles moves to 4-6, ending a three-game losing streak.

Offensive spotlight: Geno Smith was leading the way for the Seahawks until he suffered an elbow injury late in the third quarter that knocked him out of the game. Smith’s 197 passing yards and touchdown pass to D.K. Metcalf helped the Seahawks build a nine-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Drew Lock showed no signs that he would be able to close out the game, even throwing a crucial interception late in the fourth frame that led to the Rams’ eventual game-winning drive. Smith was able to come back into the game to lead the final drive and get the team into field goal range, but kicker Jason Myers missed the 55-yard kick.

Matthew Stafford’s return this week didn’t spark the Rams’ offense, but the unit did enough to win the game. Stafford finished with just 190 passing yards, and the team posted just 82 yards on the ground. Stafford did add a four-yard touchdown pass to Puka Nacua, and Darrell Henderson punched in a one-yard run midway through the fourth quarter, keeping the team in it before Lucas Havrisik delivered the eventual game-winning field goal inside the final two minutes of the game.

Defensive spotlight:Aaron Donald didn’t have a huge game in the box score but still found ways to be disruptive, as usual, with three quarterback hits, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

Devon Witherspoon was one of the Seahawks’ most important defenders again this week, coming up with a sack, eight total tackles and a pass breakup. It marked Witherspoon’s third sack of an impressive rookie campaign.

Rookie spotlight: Seattle rookie running back Zach Charbonnet ended up handling the majority of the backfield work in this game with Kenneth Walker exiting early due to an oblique injury. Charbonnet took 15 carries for 47 yards, averaging 3.1 yards per carry on the day. He was also involved in the receiving game, catching all six of his targets for 22 yards.
