Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon has dominated the college football landscape in 2022, but where might he stand as an NFL Draft prospect in the 2025 cycle? It’s still too early to say anything definitive, but already, Gordon looks like he’ll be in play for early-round capital.

Ollie Gordon Dominating the Stat Sheet in 2023

There simply hasn’t been a running back more productive than Gordon in the 2023 college football regular season.

Through eight games, Gordon has 1,087 yards and 10 touchdowns on 141 carries, to go along with 21 catches for 201 yards and an additional score. And already in Week 10, he’s bringing Bedlam down on the Oklahoma Sooners with a first-quarter touchdown.

Gordon is one of the top non-quarterbacks in Heisman contention alongside Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr., and over the past two weeks, he has a whopping 553 yards and six touchdowns.

There are few adjectives that can adequately describe the level that Gordon has played at in 2023. And it has many looking ahead to 2024 when he’ll first be eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. Could he already be in play for the early rounds?

But in his first full season of high-volume work, Gordon has put together a film profile that rivals the best backs in the nation.

At 6’1″, 210 pounds, Gordon doesn’t quite have elite mass, but there is a prying strength and force to his game as he presses upfield on second-level attempts.

Gordon has the speed to stretch seams vertically once he has a runway, and his physicality is a big boost in contact situations. But one of the most impressive parts of his game is his vision, leverage IQ, and violent cutting ability. He’s shown he can offset defenders and capitalize in real time.

Beyond all this, Gordon has proven receiving and RAC ability as well, and he’ll provide passing-down value for NFL teams once he makes the leap.

It’s still too early to say anything concrete about the 2025 NFL Draft RB class. Right now, Gordon looks like he’ll be at the top of it. But in the meantime, he’s simply a Doak Walker Award frontrunner and a Heisman sleeper in 2023.
