Overheard On Twitter: Saquon Barkley Impresses In 40-Yard Dash

Saquon Barkley’s freak athleticism and pure speed was on full display Friday at the NFL Combine as he ran what was later confirmed as an official 4.40 40-yard dash.

Many of Barkley’s potential NFL destinations, several of the most respected insiders and reporters in the NFL, and the league itself took to Twitter to share their amazement in Barkley’s 40-time, which is unprecedented considering his 233-pound size.

Barkley said we wouldn’t have an issue joining the Browns — telling reporters “that’d be awesome. Something bigger than you.” With the showing he’s putting on in the past two days, it would be less and less surprising to see the former Penn State running back end up going to Cleveland at No. 1.

The New York Jets — Barkley’s favorite team as a kid — probably wouldn’t mind to have him end up in their backfield next year.

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport stated the obvious immediately following Barkley’s first 40-yard dash of the afternoon.

Well. #PennSt RB Saquon Barkley just ran a 4.41 unofficially. That is fast.

Barkley has drawn comparisons to NFL star and Ohio State alum Ezekiel Elliott throughout the 2017 season. No. 26 has the Dallas Cowboys’ workhorse beat by 0.06 seconds in the 40-yard dash and a whopping ten inches in the vertical leap.

For perspective:Saquon Barkley: 6’0. 233 lbs. 41-inch vertical. 4.41 40-yard dash.

Ezekiel Elliott: 6’0. 225 lbs. 31-inch vertical. 4.47 40-yard dash.

Speaking of comparisons, The Checkdown directly compared Barkley’s 40-time to NFL stars Alvin Kamara, Leonard Fournette, and Elliott. Spoiler alert: Barkley beats them all.

Bleacher Report NFL Draft expert Matt Miller has been impressed by Barkley throughout the 2017 season. Not much has changed as the Scouting Combine has gone on.

On and off the track, Saquon Barkley is winning the Combine so far. Excellent athlete and he’s wowing teams in interviews.
