Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher is in the midst of overseeing the second franchise relocation of his coaching career. He did it with the Oilers turned Titans and is now in charge of the Rams as they head back west from St. Louis.

Fisher is also entering his fifth season as the coach of the Rams. To this point, Fisher has been able to pull the Rams from the depths of the NFL and lead them to something perhaps best described as competitive mediocrity. Under Fisher, the Rams have repeatedly shown they can beat anyone in a given week, then turn around and lose to just about anyone the following week.

Without so much as even a .500 record in those first four years, there’s no doubt that Fisher and the Rams need to find their tipping point sooner than later and take the next step to a winning record and a postseason appearance. At SI.com, Doug Farrar writes that Fisher could need to make that happen in 2016 if he wants to continue in his role.

Undoubtedly, the Rams need to make a move beyond mediocrity in short order or changes could be in the offing. But there’s no guarantee that would come after next year, after all, a 7-9 record with a rookie quarterback is far more promising than a 7-9 record without an answer at the position.
