BIOGRAPHY

Todd Gurley was born on August 3rd, 1994 in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a running back in the NFL.

He attended Tarboro High School in North Carolina, where he played football, basketball and competed in track and field. He ran track for Team USA in Europe during the Spring and Summer of 2011. During his junior season, he recorded 1,472 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns and logged 79 tackles as a safety. As a senior, Gurley rushed for 2,600 yards and 38 touchdowns. He won three consecutive 2A State Championships and rushed for 242 yards and four touchdowns in the 2011 State Championship game. Todd Gurley was named an All-Area Offensive Player of the Year for the 2010 season by Rocky Mount Telegram and Associated Press Player of the Year award as a senior. He signed with the University of Georgia on January 13th, 2012 after receiving more than ten offers from Divison I schools.

Gurley played at the University of Georgia, from 2012 to 2014. During his Freshman year, he started twelve of the fourteen games and rushed for a total of 1,385 yards on 222 carries with seventeen touchdowns. Todd became the second true freshman in the history of Georgia to rush for 1,000 yards. At the end of the season, he was named First-Team All-SEC by the Associated Press. In total, he rushed for more than 3,200 yards and 36 touchdowns while adding 615 reception yards and six touchdowns.

Todd Gurley was selected in the first round with the tenth overall pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft. Gurley set the league on fire and rushed for 1,106 yards in his rookie season earning him Offensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press. Since 2015, Gurley has rushed for more than 4,500 yards and 46 touchdowns in addition to 1,883 reception yards for ten scores. In 2017, Gurley was named Offensive Player of the Year for his 19 total touchdowns becoming the fourth player in franchise history to earn Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Gurley is undoubtedly the leader of the Rams’ explosive offense and is nearly impossible to scheme against and proved it in 2018 when he helped lead his team to Super Bowl 53. Gurley has established himself as an elite NFL running back and is a two-time NFL Rushing Touchdown Leader, two-time First-Team All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowler.

On April 6, 2020, Gurley signed a one-year, US$5.5 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. The deal included a $2 million signing bonus, as well as $500,000 in incentives if he has 13 touchdowns or 1,000 rushing yards. Overall, Gurley finished the 2020 season with 195 carries for 678 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns to go along with 25 receptions for 164 receiving yards.

On October 26, 2022, Gurley officially announced his retirement.
