Tom Brady could not resist. He sent a birthday wish to Drew Brees for the Saints quarterback’s 40th on Tuesday.

“Join the club,” read the card. “I’ll send you an AARP application. Lol! Now what about these kids who we gotta beat.”

Oh yeah, that! Brady and Brees, the elder statesmen and surefire Hall of Famers, lead the Patriots and Saints, respectively, against Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff, stud kids with studdier futures for the Chiefs and Rams.

“Now that I’m 40,” smirked Brees in reply, “can I get some of that TB12 stuff, extra avocado please.”

Brady and Brees went on and on about everything but football, except when it came to Sunday’s weather.

‘You and that dome you play in. It’s not fair,” chirped Brady. “You’ll be all nice and warm and cozy. Good for you. Give me the 0 degrees expected in our game any time.”

“Sure, Tom. Wear your best pair of Uggs,” cracked Brees.

Back and forth, the two old-timers went, talking coaches, family, PSIs, bounty hunters and longevity. However, nary a mention of “See ya in the Super Bowl.”

“Loved your interview after beating the Chargers,” said Brees. “You guys sure looked like you sucked.”

Tommy Boy would not go there again, saying, “Well, you got those Eagles outta there. Good.”

Brady then mentioned he had some winterized packing to do, including his best pair of Uggs.

“Happy 40th, Drew,” he wished. “Play ya at 50.”

Old-timers football:Patriots at Kansas City (-3) — So all the faith has been reinvigorated. A bit of the arrogance has kicked back in. The Pats are back? The Chiefs are looking for their first Super Bowl appearance since their only title in the 1969 season. Keep on looking. No wonder KC fans will be out of their freezing minds. The Patriots won’t be.
