  • Wat Pho

Wat Pho

This temple is one of the oldest and largest temples in the country. It is also called the “Temple of the Reclining Buddha” because 15 meter high and 43 meter long gold leaf covered inside. Wat Pho is located right beside the Grand Palace and is also home to 1000 images of Buddha. To enter, you have to pay a fee of 100 baht. All visitors have to wear appropriate clothing that covers the shoulders and below the knee.

Also known as the “Temple of Dawn”, this temple is located opposite from the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. It was built on the bank of Chao Phraya River and you can access it via ferry. The entrance fee is 50 baht and the grounds are open from 8am to 5:30pm. If you want to view the temple without too much people around, its best to go here in the morning.

Regarded as one of the most sacred buddhist temples in Thailand, Wat Phra Kaew or Temple of the Emerald Buddha can be found within the grounds of the Grand Palace. See the revered buddha carved from pure Emerald at Wat Phra Kaew and visit the European inspired interiors of the Grand Palace Hall. The attractions are open from 8:30am to 5:30pm and entrance costs around 500 baht.

Colorful tents filled with clothes, food, souvenirs, and trinkets make up this giant night market. It’s located in the suburban area of Srinakarin and open from 5pm to midnight on Thursdays to Sundays. In the warehouse zone, you’ll find collectibles, hobbyist items, and even some second hand items. Aside from a unique shopping experience, you can also get snacks at the different food stalls and drinks at the unique makeshift bars surrounding the market.

This iconic market is the most popular floating market in Thailand. Drop by and get a feel of local life in the city. It’s located about an hour away from the city center and the best time to come here would be early in the morning to avoid the heat and the humidity. While you’re here, you can buy fresh fruits, fruit drinks, flowers, and many more.
