Where is the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament held? The US Open will once again be held in Queens, New York. Since 1978, the tournament has been played on acrylic hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York City.

The U.S. Open is a tennis tournament which is of one of the oldest tennis championships in the world. It was formally known as the U.S. National Championship, which for men’s singles was first contested in 1881.
Best time to watch the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament:There are several different options to consider when planning your U.S. Open trip. Since the tour is traditionally held over the US national holiday of Labor Day, many American fans enjoy attending matches on this weekend. Sports Traveler recommends attending during the early rounds of the tournament so to see the most variety of top players and number of matches. As the field is eliminated, less matches are played per day.
What does it cost to attend the U.S. Open? The cheapest time to attend the tournament is in the early rounds. This is also the recommended time to see the most players in matches on multiple courts throughout the National Tennis Center. The most expensive matches of the tournament are during the quarterfinal, semi-final, and final rounds. Tickets can often soar well into the thousands of dollars depending if tennis’ top stars are competing for the title.
Where to sit at the National Tennis Center – Arthur Ashe vs. Louis Armstrong Stadium vs Grounds Admission Pass:There are two large stadiums that host tournament matches at the National Tennis Center – Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium. Both of these stadiums require tickets and have reserved seating. Additionally, the Tennis Center has 13 grounds courts, plus 2 show courts accessible with a Grounds Admission Pass Ticket. Both the Grandstand and Court 17 offer first come, first serve seating. Note: a Grounds Pass Admission Ticket does not allow seating inside either Arthur Ashe or Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Day Sessions vs. Night Sessions:The US Open Tennis Tournament offers tennis fans a unique opportunity to view tennis both during daylight hours and at night, under the lights. The most popular sessions are at night when many of the top names will take to the court to play in “prime time”. Although it may be tempting to purchase both a Day and Night session ticket for the same day, we don’t recommend it. Even the most die hard tennis fan will need a break from the sun and it is not uncommon for many of the night sessions to not end until well after midnight.
U.S. Open Tennis and Grand Slam History: Since 1987, the US Open has been the fourth and final tennis major concluding the Grand Slam each year. It is held annually in August and September over the weeks before and after Labor Day weekend. The main tournament consists of five different event championships: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, with additional tournaments for senior, junior, and wheelchair players.
One interesting fact about the US Open that makes it unique is that there are final-set tiebreaks. This is different than the other majors because normally the deciding set continues until it is won by two games.
