Ahead of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s RGG Summit event later this June, screenshots and the release date of the spin-off Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name have leaked online. This game is being touted as an interquel that takes place in between the events of Yakuza 6’s conclusion and the upcoming Like a Dragon 8. Unlike the eighth mainline game, instead of Ichiban Kasuga, players are once again in control of the infamous Dragon of Dojima, Kiryu Kazuma. Like a Dragon Gaiden will also return to its roots as an action brawler instead of the RPG gameplay set by the seventh game.Earlier near the end of May, RGG Studio and Sega announced an RGG Summit event for later this June, where it will likely be the next event for fans to receive news about both Like a Dragon Gaiden and 8, discounting the possible reveals at Summer Game Fest or the Xbox Showcase a week prior. Considering the previous event held in 2022 gave fans cinematic trailers for both of these games, it is a safe bet that Gaiden might get a gameplay reveal, as it is scheduled to release later in 2023. Both the launch window and some previews of Gaiden have found their way online.RELATED: Prominent VTuber Star Kson Will Be a Hostess in Like a Dragon 8This was discovered on PS Deals, a site used to track whenever PlayStation games have gone on sale or have been added to its database. The website got hold of Like a Dragon Gaiden’s release date, along with some of the promotional screenshots that would be seen on the PlayStation Store’s listing. It notes that the game is slated for a November 9, 2023, launch, along with showing Kiryu in a brand-new suit.

  Approach-Approach vs Avoidance-Avoidance Conflict

This new black suit for Kiryu isn’t just for show either, as the listing describes a new fighting style for Kiryu Kazuma that he can use. Alongside his traditional “Yakuza” fighting style, Kiryu gains access to a new “Agent” style, with the former relying on the Dragon of Dojima’s incredible strength, while the latter style focuses on speed and precision, like the Rush style. Unlike the Rush style, Kiryu gets access to a number of high-tech gadgets, which can be seen in the presumed promotional images, complimenting his new “Agent” look.

The listing also shows off a new city for Like a Dragon Gaiden, which is bright, vibrant, and provides a number of classic nightlife activities. Despite being a smaller-scale Like a Dragon game, it will have series staples like Karaoke, a Castle arena mode, and even the return of the fan favorite Pocket Circuit minigame. The full context of these details should become more clear once the game is given a proper showing at RGG Summit.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will release in 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
