Brooklyn Nine-Nine star praises Andre Braugher’s singing talent in heartfelt tribute

Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andre Braugher’s castmates from the hit NBC show are paying heartfelt tributes to the late actor following his sudden death aged 61. Leading the tributes is Joe Lo Truglio, who recalled the star’s habit of belting bassy vocals in his dressing room during their lunch break.

Andre Braugher’s publicist confirmed that the Homicide: Life on the Street star has died at age 61. Although the American actor is best known for his role as Captain Raymond Holt in the comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he also had major roles on shows like Men of a Certain Age, Hack, Law & Order Special Victims Unit, and more. Leading the tributes for the later-actor is his Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast mate Joe Lo Truglio who played the role of police detective Charles Boyle on the show.

Joe Lo Truglio remembers Andre Braugher ‘belting bassy vocals’

The 53-year-old actor took to took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to his co-star, who was eight years his senior in age. Joe posted an image of Andre writing his moving words in the caption. The Superbad actor started the tribute by noting how Andre was a family man. He remembered that the star flew back every weekend to meet his his wife Ami Brabson and three sons – John Wesley Braugher, Isaiah Braugher, and Michael Braugher – while filming the show.

Joe commended Andre’s appreciation for his family, writing, “Andre knew exactly well his most important role and was deeply proud of it. He spoke often about his sons and knew how lucky he was to have Ami.”

Joe then talked about how very few fans know that the Primetime Emmy Awards winner had quite a voice.

“What you probably don’t know is that Andre could sing too, and did often at lunch, belting bassy vocals from his dressing room to whatever new music he found” he said, noting that the star would be “crooning at full volume behind closed doors.”

Chelsea Peretti remembers what ‘Captain Holt meant to Gina’

Actress Chelsea Peretti, who played Gina Linetti on the show, also paid a touching tribute. Fans of the comedy series already know that Chelsea and Andre’s characters are shown to have a very close friendship.

At the end of season two, Gina leaves The 99th Precinct to join Captain Raymond Holt at NYPD’s public relations office. She is promoted as his assistant later in the show. She helps Captain Holt out a lot in some situations, but also gets him addicted to a game called Kwazy Cupcakes.

Chelsea, 45, remembered Andre as someone really funny but also calls him the “epitome of still waters run deep.”

“I will always cherish our conversations, often with me hanging in your doorway barring your exit, and the insane opportunity to be your sidekick,” the Big Mouth actress saidm recalling their great moments together. She also notes how she is also grieving for “what Captain Holt meant to Gina.”

He also sent his condolences to Andre’s wife and family.
