In a game where Ben Roethlisberger can almost solely be blamed for the loss, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completely took responsibility for the loss. Roethlisberger was quite frank, actually after the game and said some things that may make you do a double-take and think again. He opened up and admitted that he may not have it anymore.

Roethlisberger threw a career-low five interceptions in the loss. So far through five games, he is on pace for career lows in most areas. This has to be concerning considering the offseason he had. Early in the offseason he would not commit to coming back for the 2017 season and talked about the idea of retirement.
This is now the second public sentiment in which Roethlisberger is drumming up retirement talk. Roethlisberger was coming off of a strong season in 2016, so the news came a bit of a surprise. However, he is a quarterback who takes a lot more abuse than others.
While that has shown on the field some, he has four completions and three interceptions when throwing the ball 20 yards down the field, most of his mistakes have been mental. He is making bad decisions, he is not extending plays in the same way and he is staring down his first read too often, which leads to forced throws.
There is the old saying that once you think about retirement you are already retired, and that could hold true for Roethlisberger, as this is clearly something on his mind. The Steelers are 3-2 and there is still a chance for this team to make something special happen this season. All they really need is a halfway decent quarterback. Hopefully, for the Steelers, Roethlisberger can at least maintain that level of play, to give this team a chance to ride him off into the sunset.
