There are only two kinds of people in this world: Those that have been blocked by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Twitter, and those who have not.

I should say, there used to be two kinds of people. As per PFT’s Mike Florio, starting Tuesday, Roethlisberger’s @__BigBen7 Twitter account, famous for blocking countless folks— many of whom had no idea why— started the process of unblocking people, an undertaking that could actually take a while, judging by the account’s alleged thin skin.

Funny thing is, Roethlisberger doesn’t even run his own account— it’s a woman named Erin Cox. (I know, we’re Facebook friends.) However, you would think he would have some influence on how it’s run, right? But hearing Roethlisberger speak of his account in 2017— and why everyone was always getting blocked— was like listening to him passively-aggressively discuss how he was so “helpless” to call a quarterback sneak under Todd Haley because “Coach Todd doesn’t have that play in his playbook.”

“There is an awesome, awesome woman, Erin [Cox] who runs my website, who does all that stuff for me,” Roethlisberger told Scott Van Pelt in 2017, courtesy of PFT. “And she is one of the nicest, sweetest people around. And if you say something bad, you’re gonna get blocked, I guess. I have nothing to do with it. That’s the funniest part.”

I never got blocked by Big Ben (Erin Cox), but that’s maybe because I always voted Roethlisberger number one in those annual polls asking who was the most handsome quarterback in the NFL. There was also the time I called him the Michael Jordan of quarterbacks in one of my articles.

Objectivity, that’s the key to getting on Roethlisberger’s good side.

As for the many who did get blocked? I have no idea. If you called him “Big Bum” all the time like my brother-in-law does (he’s a Broncos fan), you were probably going to get blocked.

If you had a habit of ranking Roethlisberger behind the likes of Tony Romo and Alex Smith in whatever quarterback poll you linked to Twitter, you were probably going to get blocked (you were lucky you didn’t get arrested, actually).

If you had a nasty habit of changing his last name around in a demeaning way, well, I hope you’re still blocked.

Other than that, it’s hard to say. But it looks like Roethlisberger, who has made a career out of dodging big, angry pass-rushers, is going to allow his protection to break down on social media.

Will he be just as elusive? He better be. After all, “He holds onto the damn ball too long!” is just a love tap on Twitter.
