Britney Spears‘ new memoir, The Woman In Me, has sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. in its first week, reports AP.

Released on Oct. 24 by Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books imprint, the celebrity autobiography had already landed on Amazon’s No. 1 Best Sellers book list before it was released. Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams narrates the audiobook version of the 288-page tome, which is also available as an e-book for Kindle and other formats. According to Gallery, The Woman In Me has been the company’s fast-selling audio release ever; it runs five hours and 31 minutes and is now No. 1 on Audible’s charts.

Spears’ book is currently 48 percent off the Kindle price or 37 percent off the hardcover at Amazon. Even better: you can listen to Spears’ audiobook for free right now thanks to Audible’s free streaming offer.

The Grammy-winning singer had dropped a slew of bombshells ahead of the book’s Oct. 24 debut, including that she had an abortion during her relationship with Justin Timberlake and the emotional abuse and loss of control that she endured during her 13-year conservatorship, which ended in November 2021.

In a cover story for People, the 41-year-old star revealed her reasons for releasing the book and shared excerpts detailing her childhood, from her days starring in The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Timberlake, Keri Russell and Ryan Gosling (who she nearly co-starred with in The Notebook) and returning to her Louisana hometown; her head-shaving incident; and more.

“Over the past 15 years or even at the start of my career, I sat back while people spoke about me and told my story for me,” she told People. “After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life.”
