The gossip outlet reports that a source close to Spears claims that “She has an upcoming writers camp and is getting songs from some big artists.” Spears has never been noted for writing her own songs, so it’s not uncommon for her to look for material from other producers and writers.

Her team is likely fielding requests for her to work on tunes at all times, but if there’s a proper writing camp-an event when writers and producers get together for a few days to work on new tracks-that’s a good sign. These types of get-togethers aren’t easy to organize or cheap to run, and they can often produce a number of future hits and cuts for albums by stars. If one is being put together for her, there’s a real reason to believe something good will come out of it.

Since then, Spears has been largely focused on her personal life, but she has delivered just two tracks. She worked with Elton John on the 2022 hit “Hold Me Closer” and recently dropped the flop “Mind Your Business” single with Will.I.Am.

Extra, which broke the news of her potential new album, suggests that Spears isn’t just working on music—she is aiming for a deal with Sony for a comeback. The conglomerate owns RCA Records, which has been her home for her last two albums.

As she reportedly works on new music, Spears also has another major project on her schedule. The singer’s first memoir, The Woman In Me, is expected later this fall.
