The Kansas City Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl this year, which means so are quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Matthews. The pair have had their fair share of excitement since his previous Super Bowl appearances in 2020 and 2021. In September 2020, they got engaged (almost 10 years after their first meeting in high school). In February 2021, just weeks after Super Bowl LV, the pair welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Sterling. Then, after getting married in Hawaii in March 2022, they welcomed their son Patrick “Bronze” in November. As his third Super Bowl appearance approaches, many may want to know more about his No. 1 fan — Brittany.
Brittany is a certified personal trainer and co-owner of the Kansas City NWSL professional women’s soccer team. Her vibrant Instagram account reveals that she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology and offers online training programs as well as apparel through her website, Brittany Lynne Fitness. 2010s: Brittany Matthews & Patrick Mahomes Meet
They were high school sweethearts, which he made clear in an Instagram photo he shared in 2013 of the two posing for their prom night. After high school, the young lovebirds’ relationship continued to go the distance as she attended and played soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler while Mahomes headed to Texas Tech University.
Like her husband, she also has experience in the professional sports world, as she was a pro soccer player. After playing at the University of Texas at Tyler, Matthews went on to sign a contract with Icelandic soccer team UMF Afturelding/Fram in 2017. However, her time with UMF was short-lived as she only played with the team for six months. Still, her brief time in Iceland was well spent since she played an integral part in her team winning a league title.
Clearly, their time apart didn’t affect their love for one another.
September 2020: Mahomes Proposes
Once Mahomes and his teammates received their Super Bowl rings months after their win, the quarterback proposed to her with a ring in an Arrowhead Stadium suite. She later shared engagement photos of them surrounded by an assortment of white and red flowers. She wrote, “On a day that was meant to celebrate you, you turned it into celebrating us. It’s always us, it’s always you and me. The words you looked into my eyes and said to me at this moment, will NEVER leave my mind!”
February 2021: They Welcome Daughter Sterling
Shortly after their engagement, she announced on social media that she was pregnant with their first child. “Mom & Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding❤️,” she wrote. In January, she celebrated this new chapter in their lives by posting a handful of beautiful maternity photos on Instagram. Seh gave birth on Feb. 20, sharing a photo of her and Mahomes holding hands with the newborn child, named Sterling Skye Mahomes. On her Instagram, she also revealed that the baby girl’s birth weight was 6 pounds, 11 ounces.
March 2022: Brittany & Patrick Say “I Do”
The couple became husband and wife on March 11 in Hawaii. They tied the knot surrounded by their family and friends. Brittany wore a Versace gown with art-deco cutouts on the bodice while Patrick opted for a pale gray suit. Sterling wore a white dress, similar to Brittany’s.
November 2022: They Welcome Son Patrick “Bronze”
Brittany and Patrick became a family of four in November 2022 when they welcomed their son Patrick “Bronze.” Unlike his big sister, Bronze has yet to make his debut at a Kansas City football game. He’s already made an appearance on one of Brittany’s reels, so it’s only a matter of time until he’s in Arrowhead Stadium.
