You might think this largely a male audience but there is strong growth in women enjoying the thrilling entertainment of Formula 1®. This year, Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott said: “I’ll give you one tangible example – ticket purchasing used to be 75 per cent male to 25 per cent female. Purchasing for this year was 60:40 (men:women), so there is a huge increase in female purchasing.”

Not only were Aussies watching the race, but they were also talking about it on social media. Formula 1® related terms featured in the top 10 Twitter trends in Australia across the weekend, as well as accruing:

  • More than 48,000 Twitter impressions
  • More than 87,000 views across Network 10’s social properties

Experts Driving The Commentary

In 2022, we saw a brand-new circuit, brand new machinery and the best commentary team in the business calling all the turns, pit stops and passes. Led by Aussie F1 legend Mark Webber at the wheel with co-hosts Tara Rushton and Scott MacKinnon for expert opinions and commentary. Plus, F1 expert Tom Clarkson was inside the F1 paddock, and Natalie Hunter and Archie Thompson showed us all the glamour and excitement from around the circuit.

Full Throttle in 2023

It’s going to be red hot action again when the Formula 1® hits full throttle next year.

As well as all the wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend, the Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand 2023 Prix will also feature F2 and F3 support categories for the first time ever, allowing fans to witness the next generation of racing stars. And fans will see Melbourne’s very own Oscar Piastri, racing on his home track for the first time in the F1.
