Temperatures are at their peak in the 40s, slowly turning colder with each passing hour. We’ll watch temperatures fall into the teens and 20s tonight under a mostly clear sky, so gear up for a cold start to your Tuesday morning.
It will turn clear, and winds will calm down thanks to high pressure building across the area on Tuesday. Mostly sunny skies and light winds will make it quite pleasant, but it will remain chilly as high temperatures only peak in the 40s again. The only feature of note for the rest of the week will arrive Tuesday night into Wednesday as a dry cold front passes by. This front will bring a reinforcing shot of cold air into the region, keeping us in the 40s each afternoon and in the 20s each night through Thursday. Besides the colder temperatures, strong ridging will continue to give us sunny skies and calm conditions through the end of the week.
As high pressure finally slides east of the DMV, we will see a small temperature jump on Friday and Saturday. We should peak in the 50s both afternoons, with some clouds starting to pop back up on Saturday. Our one chance for some unsettled weather doesn’t come until the end of the upcoming weekend when a storm system will be developing off of the Southeast coast. There is still a lot of time before weather models start to hone in on exactly what this system will do, so any current details on this system are murky. Either way, we’ll likely see cloudy skies and at least a few showers late Sunday going into the start of next week.
