He was born to Darla Leigh and Edward Wesley Rodgers. Rodgers shares the same parents with his two brothers, Luke Rodgers and Jordan Rodgers who played quarterback at Vanderbilt University and had a brief NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He attended Oak Manor Elementary School after the family relocated to Ukiah, California. With his kids Luke, Aaron, and Jordan Rodgers, Edward Rodgers threw a football while warning them not to drink or party in college lest they limit their athletic potential like he did.
He paid attention to this suggestion. He was highlighted on the front page of the Ukiah Daily Journal at the age of eleven for winning a neighborhood basketball free throw competition.
Later, the family relocated to Beaverton, Oregon, where Rodgers attended Whitford Middle School and Vose Elementary School while playing shortstop, center field, and pitcher in the Raleigh Hills Little League.
When the Rodgers family moved back to Chico in 1997, Aaron enrolled at Pleasant Valley High School, where he started as quarterback for two years and accumulated 4,421 throwing yards. He received an A average and a SAT score of 1310 when he left Pleasant Valley High School in the spring of 2002.
Despite having a strong high school record, Division I programs showed little interest in Rodgers. He explained the lack of interest in the recruitment process in a 2011 interview with E:60 to his unimpressive physical size as a high school player at 5’10” (1.78 m) and 165 lb (75 kg).
Rodgers had applied to Florida State with the intention of playing for head coach Bobby Bowden, but he was turned down. He was only given the chance to compete as a walk-on for a scholarship from the University of Illinois.
He turned down the invitation, contemplating switching from football to baseball or giving up on the goal of playing professional sports altogether and going to law school after earning his undergraduate degree. After that, Rodgers received a football scholarship offer from Butte Community College in Oroville, a junior college located about 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of Chico.
In his first year at Butte Community College, Rodgers threw 26 touchdown passes, helping the school to a 10-1 record, the NorCal Conference title, and the No. 2 national ranking.
When Tedford discovered that Rodgers had not been contacted sooner, he was shocked. Rodgers had a strong high school academic record, which allowed him to skip the customary two years of junior college and transfer directly to the University of California, Berkeley.
Rodgers was a junior college transfer with three years remaining on his Cal eligibility. In the sixth game of the 2003 campaign, he was selected as the starting quarterback and defeated Illinois, the lone team that had given him a Division I shot out of high school. He served as the starting quarterback for the Golden Bears’ 7-3 record as a sophomore.
With their lone setback coming against No. 1 USC by a score of 23-17, Rodgers’ Cal team finished the regular season with a 10-1 record and a top-five ranking. Rodgers equaled an NCAA record with 23 straight completions in that game, setting a school record for consecutive completions with 26.
The Packers took him in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. In 2008, Aaron Rodgers took over as the Packers’ starting quarterback after serving as Brett Favre’s backup for the first three years of his NFL career.

He ranks second in the postseason in terms of touchdown passes, fourth in terms of passing yards, and sixth overall in terms of passer rating. In the regular season, he owns the lowest lifetime interception rate in the league (1.3%), the highest single-season passer rating record (122.5), and the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history (4.80).
