Travis Kelce, born on October 5, 1989, is an American professional football player for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. He was born in Westlake, Ohio. He plays the position of a tight end and has come to be known as one of the best tight ends in NFL history.

Travis Kelce is the younger brother of Jason Kelce. Together, the brothers have played in the NFL for over a decade. While Travis has been playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Jason has been playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. The two brothers played in the same team at high school when they went to Cleveland Heights High School and college when they went to the University of Cincinnati.

Kelce won the 2022 NFL Super Bowl game against his brother’s team, making it the first Super Bowl featuring two brothers playing against each other. For this reason, the Super Bowl was unofficially coined as the “Kelce Bowl” and saw Travis coming out as the victor in the contest. The brothers’ parents were present for the game, rooting for both teams.

As the 2023 NFL season begins, Jason Kelce looks to return to the Eagles in the hopes of winning the Super Bowl title, while Travis looks to run it back with the Chiefs and secure his third Super Bowl title.

Who is Travis Kelce’s father?

Travis Kelce was born to parents Ed Kelce and Donna Kelce. His father, Ed Kelce used to play football at the high school and developed a liking for the sport. Since his family had a line of men serving in the military, he was striving to do the same but his dream was left unfulfilled due to an injury he suffered while playing football in high school. In the New Heights podcast episode, he revealed that the cartilage in his left knee had to be removed, due to the injury.

Not one to be let down, Ed applied to work as part of the Coastal Guard after he couldn’t enlist for the Army due to his injury. During that period he discovered he had Crohn’s disease. The disease is an inflammatory bowel disease and can cause severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition. Even though he tried to make it work in the Coastal Guard it wasn’t possible because even during the basic training, he suffered severe gastrointestinal issues. He moved on to achieve tremendous success in the steel industry and often took his sons along to his workplace, to show them the reality of working in mills.

NFL star Travis Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, is still alive. Ed Kelce has been instrumental in shaping his children’s careers, constantly pushing them to be better and strive for excellence. The father of two Super Bowl winning players is not known to be as outgoing as their mother, Donna. Ed Kelce married Donna in the 1970s. The marriage has resulted in the birth of two of the biggest stars in NFL history.
