The Grammy winner’s The Eras Tour concerts in Brazil are making many headlines these days. Both the singer and her fandom were recently left heartbroken after a fan named Ana Clara Benevides Machado, tragically died during her November 17 concert. In the midst of all that’s happened, many thought Taylor would be performing her song Forever Winter at her recent show. Several fans think the song is about Taylor Swift‘s late best friend Jeff Lang.

Many Swifties were confused after seeing Jeff Lang’s name trending with the Cruel Summer singer lately. For the unversed, Jeff was Taylor’s best friend who tragically passed away in 2010.
Taylor first shared the news of Jeff’s sudden death while accepting her BMI Award on November 9, 2010. The 12-time Grammy winner, who was 20 at the time, dedicated her prestigious award to her pal Jeff. She revealed that she had attended his funeral just 24 hours prior to getting the breakthrough accolade.
Talking about her late friend, the musician said, “It’s been a really emotional week for me… He was 21, and I used to play my songs for him first. So I would like to thank Jeff Lang.”
Jeff was a University Of Tennessee student who was a biology major. He hailed from Taylor’s adopted hometown of Hendersonville, Tennessee.

The songstress has not spoken about her late friend ever since her BMI Awards speech. Neither has she confirmed that her 2021 song Forever Winter is about Jeff Lang. However, this has not stopped fans from spreading the rumor far and wide.
The song was a From the Vault track on Taylor’s 2021 album Red (Taylor’s Version). It features the heart-wrenching lyrics – “I’d fall to pieces on the floor/ If you weren’t around/ Too young to know it gets better/ I’ll be summer sun for you forever/ Forever winter if you go.”
Many Swifties anticipated that Taylor would play Forever Winter as a surprise song in one of her Eras Tour shows, given her friend Jeff passed away in the month of November. Some also thought she may perform the song as November 12 was the anniversary of Red (Taylor’s Version’s) release.
Multiple fans commented how they did not want the song to become known to Taylor’s wider audience, as it is a hidden gem. Unlike the singer’s other hits from Red (Taylor’s Version) like 22, All Too Well, and I Knew You Were Trouble, not many fans have heard her song Forever Winter.
It is a favorite of those who have come across it. From the looks of it, some Swifties are looking to gatekeep the track. Hence they are wishing Taylor does not perform it in her concert.
