How Many Picks Do the Chiefs Have in 2024?

The Chiefs currently have six picks in the 2024 NFL Draft before any compensatory selections are announced. They own all of their picks in the first four rounds of the draft but sent their fifth-rounder in a trade during last year’s draft, and their sixth-rounder was sent to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for defensive tackle Neil Farrell Jr.

Kansas City recouped a fifth-rounder from the Dallas Cowboys when Dallas moved up in the sixth round of the 2023 draft. The Chiefs traded a conditional seventh-round pick to the Houston Texans for safety Lonnie Johnson, but the conditions were likely not reached, considering Johnson did not make the Chiefs’ initial roster just months after the trade.

As winners of Super Bowl LVII, the Chiefs had the last pick of the first round in the 2023 NFL Draft. With their selection, Kansas City selected Kansas State pass rusher Felix Anudike-Uzomah. Anudike-Uzomah has yet to crack the starting rotation but does have a sack so far in 2023.

The Chiefs used their second-round pick to select SMU wide receiver Rashee Rice 55th overall. It took Rice some time to get acclimated, but he has quickly become Mahomes’ go-to wide receiver, catching 44 passes for 527 yards and five touchdowns.

Kansas City’s second Day 2 pick was Oklahoma offensive tackle Wanya Morris, who has only appeared in relief duty at left tackle this season.

The Chiefs did not spend a remaining pick on the offensive side of the ball, using all four of their Day 3 selections on defensive players.

After trading up in the fourth round, the Chiefs drafted Virginia Tech defensive back Chamarri Conner. Conner has been a reserve safety for them, playing intermittently all over the defense and heavily on special teams.

Kansas City spent their fifth-round selection to take Stephen F. Austin pass rusher BJ Thompson 166th overall. Thompson has yet to play in 2023. The Chiefs spent their sixth-rounder on another defensive lineman in Texas defensive tackle Keondre Coburn, who has also seldom played this season.

The Chiefs used their last pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to select Ball State cornerback Nic Jones. Jones has mainly seen action on special teams as a rookie.
