Covid-19 had us all locked down and the NBA also suspended all its activities amid the pandemic. While a lot of us were grappling with the uncertainties and a sudden change in the routine, Luka Doncic, the superstar of the Dallas Mavericks had one thing he would be grateful for. The lockdown brought a silver lining—more time with his girlfriend, Anamaria Goltes.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Goltes expressed gratitude for the opportunity to deepen her connection with Doncic.

It is needless to say, a full NBA season is a hectic schedule. Luka is on a phenomenal season start and is casually dropping triple-doubles and 40+ points almost regularly. In one of the post-game interviews, Luka was asked if he watches highlights of the matches. After playing, night after night, Luka said the last thing he needed now was more basketball. He aptly sets his priorities straight when it comes to the family.

In an interview with the New York Post, Goltes reflected on exactly what she was missing before. The couple first met as children in Croatia and started dating in 2016. The lockdown came as an opportunity to spend time with Luka and her pet dogs. “I love that I get to spend some time with Luka, Hugo, and Gia in the quarantine,” Goltes said during Covid. “We don’t get to spend that many days together because we are always working on our individual things. So being able to spend time together feels very good.” She added.

The couple announced the birth of their daughter

Luka and Anamaria got engaged on 7.7 this year. A direct nod to his jersey number? Maybe. On Friday, Anamaria announced the birth of their first child daughter named Gabriela. Doncic didn’t miss his moment of entering into fatherhood. He was missing on Friday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, reasons mentioned in the injury report as personal. Luka has already carved his daughter’s name on his signature ‘Luka 1s’ sneakers.

This is an exciting season for Luka who is peaking for his 4th consecutive All-Star year. He is ranked third in scoring with 31.1 average points per game. The season is indeed a hectic one, but the couple will surely match their calendar dates.
