QB Notes: With Josh Allen on bye, Jalen Hurts is averaging 3.9 more weekly points than any other quarterback active for Week 13. The 49ers haven’t faced a QB of Hurts’ caliber for some time. The last time they did, Joe Burrow passed for 283/3 and contributed 6/43 on the ground. That’s not the most likely outcome, but Hurts finds a way no matter the opponent. … No one is allowing more QB fantasy points than the Commanders. Ceiling is finally back in play for Tua Tagovailoa after wonky game scripts and tough defenses limited him to just four total scores across the Dolphins’ past three games. … You could rank Dak Prescott No. 1 overall this week and not be wrong. The Cowboys are by now fully committed to their pass-first approach, and the Seahawks defense isn’t scaring anybody. The ‘Boys are nine-point home favorites for Thursday evening’s domed affair. … Even amidst his recent “slump,” Patrick Mahomes has managed at least two scores in each of his past three starts. The Packers are not a potential smash spot, but Mahomes’ floor keeps him in the top five for a Week 13 with six teams on bye.

Does Kyler Murray have a GF? Everything about Morgan LeMasters

Coming off a quieter Week 12, Brock Purdy has a pristine matchup in an Eagles defense that just allowed the No. 1 overall fantasy effort to Josh Allen. There are perils. The 49ers are road ‘dogs, a setup different from Purdy’s typically front-running style. It’s just that, even if he has one of his turnover-marred starts, it will be almost impossible for him to finish outside the top 12. … All the way up to the QB3 overall by average fantasy points, C.J. Stroud’s hot streak has a “cooler” matchup in the Broncos, who have allowed just 80 total points during their five-game winning jaunt. They even limited Josh Allen to a QB14 day in Week 10. We are still betting on Stroud because the pickings are slim and Vegas has established an appetizing-enough 47.5 over/under. … Finally back to playing winning football since Zay Jones’ return deepened the Jaguars offense, Trevor Lawrence has found the end zone both on the ground and through the air each of the past two weeks, finishing as the QB1 and QB6. The Bengals have been hemorrhaging big plays.

Sam Howell could not slice through the Cowboys’ buzzsaw. The Dolphins aren’t that much better of a matchup, but pretty much anyone is a better matchup than Dallas. Washington still has no Plan B on offense. With the game total north of 50, Howell figures to find a way. … It’s been grim and getting grimmer for Justin Herbert, who has been reduced to targeting Alex Erickson. Josh Palmer (knee) apparently won’t be walking through that door this week. Thankfully, the Patriots are no longer a feared matchup. They are, in fact, a welcome respite from Green Bay and Baltimore. Herbert rocked his last soft date in the Lions. … We are finally reaching the “six teams are on bye” portion of the board. Jared Goff on the road vs. a Saints defense permitting just 6.3 yards per attempt and 196.3 yards per game would not normally be a top 12 quarterback, but you have to start drawing play-calling and supporting cast straws. Goff has paths to a big day that other QBs lack.

Joe Burrow follows Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray for Heisman Trophy first in NFL draft

Jordan Love has graduated to the point where he can be trusted in plus matchups. The Chiefs are … not that. It’s just that, boy, the cupboard is bare this week. The QB7 by average points over the past three weeks, Love could easily blunder his way into two-or-more scores at home. … Kyler Murray has stunk as a passer through three starts: And checked in as the QB10 by average points in the process. It does not feel particularly sustainable — Murray’s lone Week 12 carry just happened to be a touchdown — but his dual-threat skill-set is worth betting on in this barren week for the quarterback position. … The Panthers have limited enemy QB production. They are also crying uncle on the season. Baker Mayfield is a strong two-TD bet. Don’t count on three. … Facing the Titans’ pass-funnel defense with Jonathan Taylor (thumb) on the shelf, Gardner Minshew gets an emergency QB1ish ranking. Elite backup though Zack Moss has become, the air is going to have to be the focus for Indianapolis against Tennessee’s strong run D. It is worth noting, of course, that Minshew largely flopped vs. Tampa’s similar pass funnel.

Derek Carr has a potential Week 13 smash spot in the Lions’ crumbled defense. The question is … will he have any receivers? Chris Olave (concussion) is questionable while Rashid Shaheed (quad) has already been ruled out. Carr could conjure QB1 returns vs. Detroit, but his floor is sadly outside the top 12. … Everything about Russell Wilson’s Texans matchup screams “stream!” Except for the fact that Wilson is the QB18 by average fantasy points and has cleared 200 yards passing one time in his past seven starts. The Broncos will do everything possible to remove the air from the ball in Houston. Wilson is nevertheless a perfectly fine desperation option vs. a defense coughing up the sixth most passing yards. … Listen, I’m not saying to stream Kenny Pickett. I’m just saying… uhh… freakin’… yeah. Things looked way better without Matt Canada and the Cardinals stink, stink, stink. You can dare to dream. … Matthew Stafford desperados need to be monitoring Myles Garrett’s (shoulder) health. … The week’s single most desperate streamer might be Bryce Young vs. the Bucs’ terrible pass D. It simply requires too many leaps in logic for a coaching staff that no longer exists.
