Sam Hunt is preparing to take over arenas across the U.S. with his just-announced Outskirts Tour 2024.
Produced by Live Nation, the headlining tour launches on Feb. 22 in Grand Rapids, MI, and features stops in Louisville, Nashville, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and more before wrapping up in Charlottesville, VA on April 13. Special guests include multi-platinum-selling country artist Brett Young and fellow Georgia-native Lily Rose.

The upcoming trek is named after the country star’s spring release, “Outskirts,” which was co-penned by Hunt alongside Zach Crowell, Josh Osborne, and Jerry Flowers.
Throughout the post-breakup tune, the Georgia native divulges his internal battle with trying to forget the memories of his ex. While he does his best to keep her off his mind by staying busy within “the city side of those city limit signs,” he admits that once he crosses that line, all signs point to her.
“But soon as I get out here on the outskirts/ I wish I was runnin’ by your house first/ Somethin’ ’bout a summer in the south sure/ Shines like gold down these old/ Round bail river valley backroads/ Way back in the holler where the grass grows/ God almighty, baby, we were that close/ To ditchin’ this town and settlin’ down/ Out here on the outskirts,” he sings on the chorus.
Adding to his impressive catalog, the five-time Grammy nominee and Diamond-selling artist just released a brand-new song titled, “Came The Closest.” Penned by Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne and Hunt, who also co-produced with Zach Crowell, the vulnerable track takes an honest look at a man’s struggle with commitment and filling the role of “Mr. Right.”
With each note, Hunt delivers a new truth surrounding the reason why his love interest deserves to be with someone better. As the chorus hits, the country hitmaker reveals that the woman at hand was almost the one to change him, but in the end, he will never be the “straight-laced Sunday morning man” who gets down on one knee and always knows the right thing to say.
“’Cause I always gotta know what’s behind the other door / I’m never gonna be that straight-laced Sunday morning man you were lookin’ for / Nobody’s ever tied me down in clapboard house / With some kids and a bed of roses / But you came the closest,” Hunt delivers on the chorus.
The tender sounds of the steel guitar and delicate piano keys elevate the song’s serious nature of feeling never good enough for the partners looking to settle down.

“Outskirts” and “Came The Closest” follow Hunt’s string of recent releases including “Walmart,” “Start Nowhere,” and “Water Under The Bridge.”
These songs and more are expected to appear on his forthcoming third studio album, which will mark the singer/songwriter’s first full-length project since 2020’s SOUTHSIDE.
“This record, and the songs that I’ve been writing since the pandemic, they’re all sort of from the place of a guy who’s gone out into the world, experienced the world, seen a lot of things, learned a lot of life lessons but has come full circle and made it back home and is really appreciating where he’s from,” Hunt previously explained during an interview with Audacy’s Katie Neal. “That’s a big part of my journey since I left home.”
While listeners get acquainted with his newest song, they can also expect to find Hunt on at the Country Bay Music Festival Miami, FL on Nov. 12 for his last scheduled show of the year.
Then in February, he will launch his just-announced headlining trek.
