“You Never Coach Me Anymore!” Simone Biles Felt Abandoned by Her Coach in 2014

Growing up in foster care, Simone Biles’ success hasn’t been easy. Her life changed at the age of 6 when she went to a gym. Witnessing other girls perform gymnastics, Simone tried to copy them. Noticing her talent, the coaches encouraged her. Her training soon began with Aimee Boorman. This was the beginning of a legend.

In her autobiography ‘Courage to Soar’ Simone Biles revealed in detail her journey and coaching from Aimee Boorman. The gymnastic legend also spoke about how Aimee taught the counter swing and other important gymnastics moves. She also made a surprising statement, hinting at how she felt abandoned by Aimee when she was 17 years old.

When Simone Biles made a surprising revelation about her coach

Simone told about how she got sulky during a practice session in 2014. A reason for being sulky was that Aimee didn’t pay enough attention to her in those days. Busy with paperwork and responsibilities, Aimee did not coach Aimee like before. The gymnastics prodigy liked Aimee and was missing her.

The champion narrated how she broke down during that practice session in 2014. When Aimee came to her, she had a sudden outburst. “You never coach me anymore! You’re always in the office!” Simone complained. Shocked by her outburst, Aimee started coaching her as before.

Simone shared a strong bond with Aimee because the coach was one of her first mentors. Aimee had coached her for 11 years. During a press conference, Simone also spoke about how Aimee was like a second mom to her. In another interview, Simone admitted that she saw Aimee more than her parents.

Simone and Aimee parted ways after the 2016 Rio Olympics, and Aimee no longer coaches Biles. A reason why Aimee took this decision was to support her husband so that he could do a job elsewhere.

Recently, Simone is in a partnership with the new cruise ship ‘Celebrity Beyond’ and has been christened as the godmother of the ship. She also actively promotes the brands Athleta and GK Elite through her Instagram account.
