NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his move from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets more official with the purchase of a $9.5 million mansion in the Garden State as the season is about to begin.

The contemporary pad is located in Montclair, New Jersey, an upscale suburb just over 10 miles from his other new home: MetLife Stadium. Originally listed for $11 million, the 10,000-square-foot home was purchased by Rodgers for $9.5 million, still making it the most expensive home sold this year in Essex County. The property was listed with Joan Barrett of Stanton Realtors.

The modern home is set on 2.4 acres and has eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. There are oversized open-plan living spaces that are flooded with natural light thanks to the walls of windows that wrap the home and overlook the New York City skyline. The home’s double-height foyer welcomes you into the home and the floating staircase with a glass-railing provides access to the top floor. There’s a gourmet chef’s kitchen, complete with state-of-the-art appliances, custom cabinetry, a center island with seating, and a nearby dining table. The kitchen and dining areas open onto the backyard, which has a large deck space, al fresco dining area, plenty of lawn, and room for a pool.

The primary suite is exceptionally spacious and has a private living area. Also wrapped in windows, the room is ensconced by greenery and leads to the lawn so you’re never too far from the outdoors. There’s also a spa-like bathroom with a massive glass-enclosed shower. Amenities include a yoga/fitness room, a wine cellar, a three-car garage with an EV charging station, and a whole-house generator supplemented by solar panels. The home is also outfitted with a high-tech security system, ideal for a high-profile figure.

The home is close enough to MetLife Stadium, as well as near the Jets training facility in Florham Park, New Jersey. It’s also a brief trip to Manhattan and near all of the exciting shopping, entertainment, and restaurants New York City has to offer.

The four-time NFL MVP is preparing for his first season as the quarterback of the New York Jets. Rodgers, one of the world’s highest-paid athletes, recently reworked a new two-year contract with the New York Jets that now sees him earning $75 million. Rodgers is known as one of the most talented quarterbacks of all time. He was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, where he played from 2005 to 2022. In April of this year, he finalized a deal to move to the New York Jets.

The professional athlete had considered retirement before signing with the Jets and even sequestered himself in a dark room for several days as part of a “darkness retreat.” However he came to the decision to sign with the Jets, the move is very reminiscent of former Packer quarterback Brett Favre, who left the Green Bay Packers for the New York Jets 15 years ago, also at the age of 39.
