Disney darlings (and siblings) Julianne Hough and Derek Hough are taking the stage once again in a TV special — this time right before the Academy Awards! The duo will apparently be leading a special called Step Into…The Movies, in which they will be recreating iconic dances and legendary cinematic performances from movies a week before the Oscars. According to Deadline, at least one featured Disney dance performed by the actors will be the ballroom dance from the 1991 film Beauty and the Beast!

The TV performance was also announced on the D23 podcast recently. According to the podcast, “the siblings are going to recreate some extremely iconic, cinematic performances with a star-studded cast of singers, dancers, actors, film legends, you name it”!

Aside from Beauty and the Beast, some of the dances will also be inspired by Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Singin’ in the Rain, La La Land, Dirty Dancing, and Saturday Night Fever. There will apparently be lots of surprise celebrity guest stars as well, so we wouldn’t be surprised if some Disney actors or Disney songs make their way into the one-hour show! Could one of those film legends and Disney legends be Dick Van Dyke?

Julianne Hough and Derek Hough are both known for their work as professional dancers on Dancing with the Stars, but the performers are also known for their work with Walt Disney World Resort and the Walt Disney Company in general. Both Julianne and Derek have participated in many live TV specials for Disney or holiday specials, including a holiday special called “The Wonderful World of Disney: World’s Most Magical Holiday Celebration” for this past Christmas! Julianne is particularly popular with Disney as a singer.

Step Into…The Movies will air on ABC on Sunday, March 20 exactly one week before the Academy Awards! Disney fans will also want to tune into the 94th Academy Awards, because several Disney movies have Oscar nominations this year (including the Golden Globe-winning Walt Disney Animation Studios movie Encanto and Cruella, which coincidentally starred La La Land’s lead actress Emma Stone).

Are you going to be in both audiences watching this energetic TV special and the 94th Oscars for some of the iconic movie moments and legendary cinematic performances, as well as the surprises?
