Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was reported to be on a “short leash” for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. He didn’t do himself any favors during the first half when he threw an interception so disastrous that Tony Romo couldn’t help but blast him on the CBS broadcast.
After scrambling out of the pocket on second down, rather than throw the ball away, Jones opted to throw across his body in the direction of Hunter Henry.
The pass was nowhere close to its target, and it ended up landing directly in the grasp of Tre’von Moehrig for what was probably the easiest interception of the DB’s career.
“He is open, Hunter Henry. This is just a horrendous throw by Mac Jones. He’s had a couple this year he wants back, but this is going to be right up there,” said Romo.
Romo wasn’t the only one critical of Jones’s brutal pick, as NFL fans on social media offered some blunt criticism of the 25-year-old’s performance and even his future with the franchise.

I wish Mac Jones a lot of luck in his future endeavors but he cannot be the Pars QB anymore. And I’m saying this as someone who wants them to tank.

Mac Jones should get that linkedln profile ready
Mac Jones’ regression has certainly been interesting. Yes, the Patriots lack a support staff on offense in a lot of areas, but sometimes he’s just making really poor decisions.

Not to be dramatic, but how do you tell your teammates to do better when you make these mistakes regularly? https://t.co/MIF7WYJGJt
Mac Jones and Patriots haven’t scored a touchdown in 12 quarters of football. They have scored 3 for the other team so there’s that.
